The Testimonial Lifecycle

This article explains the end-to-end lifecycle of a testimonial in Loveboard — from the moment a customer submits it to when it appears on your website.

1. Customer Visits Your Form

A customer clicks on your form's public URL or encounters your embedded form on your website. They see your branded collection form with your logo, headline, and fields.

2. Customer Submits a Testimonial

Depending on your form type, the customer either:

  • Writes a text review — Types their feedback and selects a star rating (1-5 stars)
  • Records a video — Uses their webcam to record a testimonial directly in their browser
  • Chooses text or video — If your form supports both, the customer picks their preferred format

They fill in any additional fields (name, email, company, etc.) and click Submit.

3. Thank You Page

After submission, the customer sees your configured thank-you page — either the default message, a custom page, or they're redirected to a URL of your choice.

4. Testimonial Appears in Your Dashboard

The submitted testimonial immediately appears in your Loveboard dashboard under Testimonials with a "New" status. You'll see:

  • The customer's name and information
  • Star rating (for text testimonials)
  • The full text content or video recording
  • All custom field values
  • Submission timestamp

5. You Review and Take Action

As the workspace owner or team member, you review each testimonial and decide:

  • Approve — Makes the testimonial visible in all your embeds (Wall of Love, Carousel, etc.)
  • Archive — Hides the testimonial from embeds but keeps it in your account
  • Delete — Permanently removes the testimonial

6. Approved Testimonials Appear in Embeds

Once approved, the testimonial automatically appears in any embed that matches its criteria (based on form, type, and rating filters). No manual updating of your website is needed — the embed pulls approved testimonials in real time.

Understanding the Flow

Customer visits form ↓ Customer submits testimonial ↓ Testimonial status: "New" ↓ You review the testimonial ↓ ┌───────────────────────────────────────┐ │ Approve → Visible in embeds │ │ Archive → Hidden, preserved │ │ Delete → Permanently removed │ └───────────────────────────────────────┘

Key Points

  • No login required for customers — They simply visit the URL and submit
  • Testimonials are not public by default — They only appear in embeds after you approve them
  • You have full control — Review every testimonial before it goes live
  • Real-time updates — Approved testimonials appear in embeds immediately
  • Archived testimonials can be restored — If you change your mind, you can approve an archived testimonial later
  • Deleted testimonials are gone forever — There's no undo for deletion
